A defined and rational methodology tends to be the first difference between scientific fieldwork and pseudo-scientific guesswork.
PSI publishes its standardised methodology in sufficient detail that replications could take place and any data gathered can be seen in context.
PSI also wishes to encourage a sense of openness in working methods, even if openness encourages criticism:
